			<description>Bow, NH - The New Hampshire Athletic Trainers&apos; Association held their annual meeting Sunday May 18&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; at Bow High School.  The meeting served as a continuing education opportunity for those in attendance and was run in tandem with the NHATA business meeting.  With representation on behalf of nearly 60 high school, college and private sector athletic trainers in attendance, the 2008 meeting serves as the largest attended annual meeting in the NHATA&apos;s history.  
&lt;p&gt;
Highlighting the meeting were the recognitions of &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.unhwildcats.com/index.cfm?id=1233ACB2-C596-34FD-E95456B3340388E8&amp;profile=1C93ED49-E5DA-4447-A88D086F9EF27B00&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;Dan Sedory&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.unhwildcats.com/index.cfm?id=1233ACB2-C596-34FD-E95456B3340388E8&amp;profile=1C87E3D7-B633-F66E-E9C1078332AF7F89&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;John Dana&lt;/a&gt;, both of the University of New Hampshire.  Sedory, UNH&apos;s Athletic Training Education Coordinator, was recognized for his life long achievement in athletic training education with the honarary title for New Hampshire&apos;s NATA District 1 Scholarship.  Mr. Sedory has served as the ATEP coordinator at UNH since 1988 and has been an integral member of the NHATA since it&apos;s inception.  Dana, was recognized as the winner of the NHATA&apos;s 2008 Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer.  Dana has served as an athletic trainer at UNH since 1984 and served as Head Athletic Trainer from 1987 to 2001 when he assumed the title of Director of Sports Medicine.  
&lt;p&gt;
Speakers for the event were Keith Belmore MS, ATC and &lt;a href=&quot;mailto:brendon.mcdermott@uconn.edu&quot;&gt;Brendon McDermott&lt;/a&gt; MS, ATC.  Belmore presented on research conducted in conjunction with the &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.nhmi.net/&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;New Hampshire Musculoskeletal Institute&lt;/a&gt;, in regards to &quot;Face
Mask Removal in Newly Designed Football Helmets&quot;.  McDermott presented on the latest research in diagnosis and treatment of heat related illnesses in active individuals.

The NHATA business meeting served as an opportunity for members to meet their newly elected officials.  First year President &lt;a href=&quot;mailto:president@nhata.org&quot;&gt;Tate Erickson&lt;/a&gt; presided over the meeting and introduced Treasurer &lt;a href=&quot;mailto:treasurer@nhata.org&quot;&gt;Neil Duval&lt;/a&gt;, Secretary &lt;a href=&quot;mailto:secretary@nhata.org&quot;&gt;Dr. Jennifer Austin&lt;/a&gt; and Past-President &lt;a href=&quot;mailto:pastpresident@nhata.org&quot;&gt;Peter Thurber&lt;/a&gt;.  Erickson spoke on the NHATA&apos;s role in this year&apos;s 5&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; annual &quot;NATA Hit the Hill Day&quot; and the current state of reimbursement in the field of athletic training.

Liesl Lindley, Athletic Training Student Committee chair, discussed the success of this year&apos;s 3&lt;sup&gt;rd&lt;/sup&gt; annual &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.nhata.org/stories/storyReader$296&quot;&gt;NHATA Student Symposium&lt;/a&gt; held this past April at &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.keene.edu/programs/pe/&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;Keene State College&lt;/a&gt;.  Scholarship award recipients for the NHATA student scholarships were Shannah Dalton and Taryn Nicoletta from &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.colby-sawyer.edu/academic/ess/athletictraining/index.html&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;Colby-Sawyer College&lt;/a&gt;.  &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.unh.edu/undergrad-catalog/programs.cfm?id=4&amp;page=programs&amp;program=32&quot; target=&quot;_blank&quot;&gt;University of New Hampshire&apos;s&lt;/a&gt; Rebekah Porter was the winner of the newly named &quot;District One Daniel R. Sedory Scholarship&quot;. Ms. Porter had also received the Eastern Athletic Trainer&apos;s Association&apos;s &quot;Karl Klein&quot; Scholarship at this year&apos;s EATA meeting in January.
