2009 NHATA Student Symposium

Durham, NH - On Sunday April 26'th, the University of New Hampshire's Athletic Training Education Program, played host to the 2009 New Hampshire Athletic Trainers' Association's annual student symposium. The event served as a means of student interaction and learning for the state's four ATEP programs highlighted by student presentations and a key note address on "alternative" athletic training career paths by Jay Sedory, MEd ATC, EMT-T of the United States Marine Corps.

During the proceedings of the symposium Matt Roberts of Keene State College and the New Hampshire Eastern Athletic Trainer's student representative spoke on student involvement opportunities with the EATA and the iLead student initiative with the National Athletic Trainer's Association. There was also a special presentation by Jonathan Dana, ATC, N.H.LAT of the University of New Hampshire on his experience as an athletic trainer working with the United States Olympics Committee and the U. S. Paralympics Track and Field teams. The NHATA would like to thank this year's student presenters.

To close the proceedings the "The Dan Sedory New Hampshire District 1 Scholarship" was awarded to Plymouth State University's Shawn P. Cameron. Colby-Sawyer College's Shannah Dalton and Plymouth State University's Bradford Emerton were awarded the 2009 NHATA student scholarships. The 2009 NHATA Quiz Bowl trophy was awarded to Keene State Colleges Allisa Miller and Seth Gourson.

The NHATA would like to thank Dan Sedory and the University of New Hampshire staff for their efforts in facilitating a successful event and looks forward to it's 5th annual student symposium, which returns to inaugural host Plymouth State University.
